Marca: Casey and others were inducted into the Pachuca Football Hall of Fame, and they gathered in Mexico with legends such as Higuita

Marca reported that Casillas received a warm welcome last night in the Mexican city of Puebla, just an hour's drive from Mexico City and home to the Football Hall of Fame. This time the Hall of Fame ushered in the thirteenth induction ceremony, with a total of 18 new members joining.

"Marca" followed the former Real Madrid goalkeeper throughout the whole process, and he was the star of the event. The event ended with a historic group photo, where five legendary goalkeepers gathered together: 2010 World Cup champion Casillas, famous Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita, Mexican goalkeeper Jorge Campos, 1978 World Cup champion Argentinian goalkeeper "Duck" Filol and 1986 World Cup champion Argentine goalkeeper Neri Pompido.

Facing the audience in the city of Hidalgo state, an excited Casillas said: "I am very grateful to this country for caring for me and thank the Puebla Group for awarding me this award."

In addition to Casillas, two-time European Golden Boot winner and former Villarreal and Atletico Madrid forward Diego Forlan was also admitted yesterday, but he was unable to attend due to a rib fracture while playing in Uruguay a few weeks ago.

Other well-known figures in international football include Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita, England striker Gary Lineker and current Netherlands national team coach Ronald Koeman, although the latter was also unable to attend.

The Football Hall of Fame in Puebla is the most organized and prestigious football hall of fame in the world. In its twelve previous editions, it has seen the greatest football players in history (Maradona, Di Stefano, Pele, etc.), the only condition being that they must have been retired for more than five years.

The annual vote involves numerous journalists from around the world (including Marca) to determine the 18 newly selected members, who will be honored at a grand ceremony in Mexico (Puebla).
