According to previous reports, in order to make room to sign Smart, the Lakers cut Milton and Goodwin successively.

Milton's salary for the 2025-26 season was $3 million (unsecured), and Goodwin's salary was $2.35 million (only 25,000 is guaranteed).

Smart signed a contract with the Lakers for 2 years of $10.525 million, of which $5.134 million was US$5.134 million in the 2025-26 season and $5.391 million in the 2026-27 season (player option).
