British media: Crystal Palace and Lyon have the same boss, and UEFA will decide whether the former can play in the UEFA at the end of the month

According to the Mirror, citing the BBC, UEFA will decide at the end of this month whether Crystal Palace can participate in next season's UEFA Cup.

Crystal Palace won the FA Cup this season and qualifies for the UEFA Cup next season. But John Texdor, one of the shareholders of Crystal Palace, is also the owner of Lyon Club, and Lyon also qualifies for the Europa League next season. According to UEFA rules, two teams belonging to the same boss are not allowed to participate in the same European competition.

Since Lyon ranks higher than Crystal Palace in the league, Lyon has priority, and Crystal Palace has the potential to lose its Europa League qualification. Crystal Palace senior executives have gone to UEFA headquarters in Switzerland to try to maintain their UEFA qualification through negotiations. The BBC revealed that UEFA is expected to make a decision at the end of this month.

The owner of another Premier League team Nottingham Forest, Marinakis is also the owner of Greek team Olympiacos, but Marinakis indirectly controls the club's shares through a trust fund to avoid violating UEFA rules. And John Texdall is unlikely to follow this approach, because he does not control the absolute controlling stake in Crystal Palace.
