Saint City Mayor stopped building a new Spurs stadium & is not worried about the Spurs moving away, opponents arrested for sending death threats

According to reports from several Spurs reporters and multiple local media in San Antonio, the Spurs' project to build a new stadium was severely hindered due to opposition from the mayor of the Saint City.

San Antonio Mayor Ortiz Jones called for a 60-90-day moratorium on plans to conduct an independent review of economic research for the proposed Spurs’ new stadium project. The mayor proposed a reference to the comprehensive evaluation method used by Philadelphia for its venues recently and said Philadelphia’s research on gyms is a model of transparency.

It is understood that although most of the council members opposed the proposal and hoped to continue negotiations with the Spurs, the mayor said the review process would be initiated without the need for full support. The message the mayor sent to Spurs fans and Quds residents is very clear that sufficiently persuasive neutral review results must be collected before public funds are put into the project. The mayor also said he was not worried that the failure to build the new stadium would cause the Spurs to move out of the Holy City: "It depends on the Spurs themselves." The police in Quds have also recently arrested an opponent, and 24-year-old Marcos Olvera was arrested for posting a social media remark that "we need to kill the mayor" in response to the market's suspension of the Miracle Project and the development of the Spurs' new stadium. The opponent was charged with third-degree felony retaliation and was asked to pay $125,000 on bail. The
