World Sports reported that German goalkeeper Ter Stegen has been recovering from a gym in the sports city of St. Jon De Pace since training began last Monday.

He is considering undergoing surgery in the coming weeks, which could leave him out for four months. If he chooses surgery, as the team's first captain, his salary will be released to meet the financial fairness requirements of La Liga, which will also help register Joan Garcia, but Ter Stegen will still receive the full salary. However, Barcelona may save a huge amount of money through FIFA's club protection program, about more than two million euros.

According to World Sports, Barcelona has reported this to FIFA since Ter Stegen was injured in the UEFA European League match against Portugal and France on June 4 and 8. If Ter Stegen is out of the game for more than 28 consecutive days due to injury to the national team, FIFA will bear part of the salary.

Previously, Barcelona had benefited from FIFA's club protection program, such as Garvey was seriously injured while playing for the Spanish national team in November 2023, and Ronald Araujo was injured when the Uruguay national team competed in the Copa America in July 2024.

For the case of Terstegen, the daily compensation amount can reach up to 20,548 euros. If he needs four months of recovery time (up to 12 months of compensation, totaling 7.5 million euros), Barcelona will receive approximately 2.465 million euros from FIFA.
